1. Outfitter tag allowance. Why we need entitlements and hand outs for outfitters is beyond me. Have them draw online like the rest of us.. Problem solved

2. Buying in person, for yourself only or a minor. ID required. Problem solved

3 Buying online, allow only one login at a time. I have multiple apps on our work platform that boot you off, if you log in on another device. I'm no IT expert but this does not seem complicated. Reprogram your online software....problem solved

4. System failure....if you can't build the IT programs to work right, then revert back to in person only. Highly doubt it would sell out in hours, wouid likely take days.....problem solved

5. Multiple purchase options...see #4. Problem solved

6. Vendors. Keep them for licenses and non high demand items. If the system doesn't work, axe it...see #4

7. Frustration, see 1-6. Problem solved

8. Integrity, fix above problems. Problem solved.

If they do 1-8, regardless of which way they go, guys will be happier in the long run

I’d rather have a bad random number and the option to choose a tag that’s left than not draw anything at all…

Wonder how many tags will hit the leftovers for res

Also sucks for the guys willing to put the time, money and effort to go in person

Sure there were people abusing the system but an online draw isn’t going to net the results many think it will. But that’s just my .02. I would love to be wrong.

I am one of the crazy ones who like the system so what do I know

Why is this dated Jan 29, 2025?
No clue why it is dated the 29th. My inside Idaho source told me the Committee was to have the proposal ready by 01/13/25, and it did not happen. Was also informed that there is still a 2-year contract with the current vendor. It would take a lot of work and effort to make this happen, to change the way 26 tags are sold that is.

I agree with you and feel the same way. I've been saying it from the beginning of the moving it to a draw talks but unless idaho designs a robust draw with lots of options this is going to be a cluster. I have no faith that a draw will be designed to address the leftover potentials. I firmly believe that we will all be looking back after a draw is instituted and it won't be solving the issues and nobody will be any happier....sure hope I'm wrong.

I’ve said it [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]][emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6]]] times

The system in place would work great if them idiots would simply make it

Log in FIRST——No multi computer using

No in person crap where you can buy for everyone and anyone else (makes it more fair and stop bout fitters from hogging tags)

One name/license = [emoji[emoji[emoji6]][emoji[emoji6][emoji6]]] tag. Just about Nowhere else can people buy up licenses for others, that’s nothing new

No idea WTH all that emoji garbage is. ^^

Id feel for the folks that get after it in the early december circus to get tags if it changed.
Exactly. It’s an effort to reward system right now. You take the day off, set aside the money for a flight/gas, or make a local friend and you're guaranteed a tag. Now everyone and their mom will apply just because they can and these general season hunts are going to have the same odds as some of the best hunts in the west (which these are not).

It’s crazy the hype these limited quotas have out in Idaho. People who havnt been to Idaho talk to me about these general tags like it’s a mogollon rim or Gilla Wilderness type elk hunt and the strip for mule deer. The scarcity syndrome really gets people.

If you look back, you will find that there wasn’t a problem or rush until they raised the prices. Then all of a sudden the demand soared and the chaos exploded.
IDFG has no incentive to do any changes. As it stands now, they sell all the tags in short order and don’t have to sweat selling them out all year or discount as many to sell them. If they go to any sort of draw, it will be a cluster and more people will be unhappy and bitching about it. And if they don’t sell out they have to try to sell the rest later instead of collecting interest on the money they made earlier in the year.

Bingo, we all know it is about the $$$. Idaho sells dang near every nonresident elk tag within hours, and deer tags. So why change what is working. 8 million for elk tags, 2 million for licenses plus the deer tags and archery permits. I'm just saying 10mill ish in 5-6 hours.. unless my math is wrong.

Then they should raise the price again and keep Price Lock as is for the guys that have been buying for 8+ years.

Current system has worked for me, but I know it frustrates others. I actually think going to a draw would result in leftover tags and make it easier to get tags for some units. Right now a lot of people get in the queue and pivot to a new area when the tag they hoped for is gone. If you have to apply you will need to pick a unit and stick with that choice.

I don't see how zone/unit specific draw for these tags is going to fix anything... At least the way it is now you can see what's still available when your turn comes and select accordingly. Some simple revisions to the current system would have been sufficient. Like... allow groups to purchase tags together, prevent tag mule purchasing, etc.
What about people with actual real big boy jobs that can’t sit in the computer on tag drop day?
Ultimately I think this will just lead to fewer tags for non residents.

But at least with an application period people with a life will have a chance to apply.

Idk how it’s feasible so many people can spen that much time messing around and tag drop/random draw day.

Usually, those jobs offer vacation days and pay well enough to afford to travel for in-person purchase or paying a local buyer.

It’s all about priorities.

It’s not unlimited pto
Need the vacation days for actual hunting.

It’s a general tag. Not like I have the option to roll up and by any tag I want.

And what if I still get a crap zone or nothing after taking 3 vacation days to travel to Idaho?
Then that is just time, money, and vacation I’m out for all other opportunities.

Ohh and I’m supposed to have 3 days of vacation left in December after all the hunts?

If you do your homework, you can get any tag you want and miss only one day of work.

As mentioned, it’s all about priorities and effort. Just the same as it is with hunting, the guys that put in the time and work reap the rewards.

I’m not familiar with all the scams associated with poaching an Idaho tag. I’m not very computer savvy.

I fail to see how i could get off work at 6 pm in another state. Make it to Idaho and make it back in one day. And also be at that point of sale early enough to get a good spot in line.

Am I just supposed to offer every Idaho resident I know a $1k reward for getting me a tag?
