Idaho Help

Seriously speaking don't concern yourself with wolf population just pick an area & hunt! Elk live in specific elk environmental areas wolves or no wolves. Seek out long running draws with water in bottoms & basins surrounded by north & south facing mtns, you will locate elk in them as well as nearby them. Let your calling & glassing do most of the work, it's more productive than burning boot leather void of those two hoping lady luck shines upon you! (grin) When calling for location remember that's your objective, you are locating them not trying to call them to you, very important part of the strategy.

Paul the plan is to evolve my hunting skills and be more patient and glass more. In years past I'd burn lots of leather. Upgraded my glass and tripod setup to help encourage good behavior. :D

The Wolves like to hunt the easy terrain just like man, so you can improve your odds a little by taking that into account. With that said, I would rather compete with the Wolves than Paul and his crew :)

I hunt in an area that has very limited access and is very populated with Wolves......which now means less hunters! If your willing to get nasty you'll come across Elk. Getting them into bow range is the real trick! Good Luck.
