I would suggest anyone that drew a tag to go pick it up ASAP. I applied for an archery bull tag as my first choice, which the portal says I drew, and an extra cow tag separately which I did not draw. I just got an email saying that I did NOT draw anything for elk. I also noticed that my portal says my tag is "claimed" ... I grabbed it from Sportsman's within an hour of the results being released so that makes sense. Below is the exact wording from the email from Fish & Game. Nowhere on the email does it say a specific hunt number...just references my hunter ID number. Probably nothing but with all the issues they've had this year, I'm not so sure.


"Thank you for applying for Elk - Controlled hunts. We are sorry to inform you that your application(s) were not selected in the drawing.



Any unclaimed controlled hunt tags can be applied for in the second application period which runs August 5 through August 15, 2021.

Idaho Residents: You may purchase general season tags through the Internet at GoOutdoorsIdaho.com, at any Fish and Game license vendor, at Fish and Game offices idfg.idaho.gov/offices, or by telephone at (800) 554-8685."

Wow, my wife drew a bull tag for the second year in a row and I drew a decent buck tag… Woulda been WAY ahead of the game had I known on Monday. Vacation is scheduled and I’ll be scouting in the morning. May even wait til 11:55pm on the last day to buy my tag.

I thought you had to sit out a year on elk if you drew? I drew an unlimited tag so I'm in no rush to get it lol

Amazing that a guy can draw all ID OIL tags in 9 years, but can't draw anything deer/antlered elk in 6 years.

I think that most draw odds are better for the OIL tags, than they are for the "good" draw pronghorn, deer, and elk tags

I know 2 guys that have drawn and filled all of the OIL tags , but they couldn't buy a elk or deer draw to save their butts.
