Question, I put in for hunt number 2086 which was unit 29 salmon and south of that to Challis I got selected for that unit but it tells me it's now Unit 32 - 1 does anybody have any insight? The current regulations still state it is unit 29 but what I got on their website on my Controlled Hunt says 32 - 1.

Yes, but not in the printed out or online regs. The regs say hunt unit 29

Anything that you would like to share will be gratefully taken in.

Ok, now that F&G finally!!!!! posted, I did the drawing for the book giveaway. Six members guessed July 6th. I listed them according to entries, pulled up random.org and....

PM me your shipping address and any special instructions for signing and I'll get it coming early next week.

Thanks for playing everyone! Now let's kill this thread hahahahahah

I struck out on the big game draws, then had a 1 in 6 chance at your book and struck out on it as well. Shows how good my "luck" is!!

Now for the incoming swarm of posters (especially new ones) looking for info on a unit they've never seen and no nothing about looking for info.

Not to resurrect the "rigged draw" idea, but here it is. An acquaintance of mine has worked for, and contracted to, the IDF&G for about 10 years. The first year he lived here he drew a very low draw odd moose tag. Beginners luck? 3 years later he draws a goat tag. The next year he drew a late buck hunt with 10 tags. 2 years after that he drew a sheep tag. I know people that have been putting on each of those hunts, respectively, for 30 years or more and not drawn. I'm not a conspiracy theorist but...... No way to ever prove anything.

This is how randomness works. There will be people who randomly get really lucky and people who randomly get really unlucky. Even over extended periods of time. If you have 1,000 people in a room and ask them to flip a coin 25 times the odds are pretty good that there will be someone who gets heads all 25 times. Even a few people might. These are the people that we hear about - the really unlucky or really lucky ones. But they are not the norm, they are just bound to happen when you have a bunch of people flipping coins. The problem is that because of their exceptional luck or lack of luck, they get talked about and this creates the perception that there is a lot of this going on, or that there must be something devious happening.

I get the random part of Idaho's controlled hunt system. Plenty of times I've been the recipient of one or more great tags. It's what I love about the system. Sometimes though....the dark little jealous clouds creep in when I see someone with really great luck year after year. Overall, I couldn't be more satisfied with a random system. It's like Christmas every year, not a monotonous slave drive to outlive everyone else to finally be the max point holder, then realizing your 99 years old and can't hunt anymore.
