Lewiston would be a great spot for the outdoor enthusiast. Lots of good fishing and hunting. However it does get warm in the summer.

A smart OP should be like everyone else and have to go there for work and food but don’t live there.

Everyone of my buddies moved from Lewiston and don’t regret it one bit.

I came from Portland or, and have been to almost every major city in the US for work. You can do a hell of a lot worse.


Twin falls has a lot of food manufacturing plants that you could look into as well.

I get it, it’s a “nice” city, I grew up very rural and wanted a faster pace of life in my early 20’s, decided to move here, met my wife, discovered that rural life is way better in my late 20’s, wife enjoys the conveniences that the city offers too much to move away right now. I’m still working on her, the traffic and general stupidity of people here in the valley are helping me make my case and I think I’m not too far from getting out.

Years ago I had an offer from the contractor who ran INEL west of Idaho Falls. I was going to take the new job ( Manufacturing Engineer ) but my company promoted me and gave me a good raise to stay. INEL is where they trained nuclear power plant operators. They also did simulation on nuclear accidents and how to deal with them.

Micron in Boise is hiring - there's a huge expansion underway.

Micron and Simplot are the big companies in Boise, there are also a lot of other smaller manufacturing/Tech companies popping up throughout the Boise area. The local pay rates don't really fit the cost of housing anymore so if you aren't moving here with a pocket full of equity it might be tougher on 1 income.
