I had limited time to hunt bears this spring due to my wife being due with our second child in early June, she says I'm not really allowed out of cell service within a month of the due date. Anyway I headed up to unit 39 for a spot and stalk hunt this last weekend. Ended up spotting this bear from the road on the drive up. Went and set camp anyway in case my stalk failed and then made a long, steep climb up to where the bear was before, took me a while to relocate the bear and I didn't have a great shot so I held off and the bear went into the bottom of the basin for a nap, after 4 hours she came back out and I was able to make a well placed shot at 332 yards and ended my bear season early. Lots of ground shrinkage on what I suspect is a 3 year old sow. I packed all of the boned out meat and the head and hide in one trip and boy was it heavy. Anyways since I was solo and more concerned with meat recovery and keeping the bear from sliding deeper into the alder thicket the field photos aren't the best but I got out the hide and head once I was home for a little better size perspectiveImage1460993861.698836.jpgImage1460993868.445250.jpgImage1460993883.659769.jpgImage1460993891.869405.jpg

IDFG bio said based on the teeth wear she would age this bear somewhere over 5 but under 10 years of age. I was shocked but then again I'm no biologist
