I was hacked

My account got hacked late last night. Do not send money I am not selling anything right now!

Freaking scammers..luckily I was able to log in still and change password/enable 2 factor.

Now I have the scammers Zelle number in my messages as he was actively scamming using my messages. Unfortunately someone sent the scammer money it looks like. Anyone know how I can help the buyers get this sorted out?

I don’t think anything can be done to refund a Zelle payment. It would probably have to go through law enforcement for arrest, prosecution, and restitution to see the money back to the buyer.

Zelle would probably freeze or close an account with fraudulent activity, but I imagine that has an insignificant effect on these scammers.

Luckily I noticed within about 8 hours. I was able to warn a few potential buyers..unfortunately one guy was successfully scammed. I will say the communication between him and the scammer was like textbook scam/red flag material FWIW.

I now have 2 factor and a better password although my original was fairly complex. Still don’t know how the heck they were able to hack me.

This is what I am wondering. I expect the forum software is hacked, not someone miraculously guessing many, many passwords.

I had a weird experience with a seller earlier this week also. Luckily I didn’t just jump into and it got reported. Sounds like he may have been hacked as well.
