2 weeks in Alaska last year, in a low ground swampy river valley; I treated my clothes with Permethrin and used Picaridin on my skin and never got a bite...which is unheard of for me.

For all ya'll using Permethrin, Bonide Bedbug killer is a super affordable alternative to Sawyer Permethrin. It's the same thing, but super cheap. Amazon.com : Bed Bug Killer Rtu Gal, 128 FL OZ : Home Pest Control Sprayers : Garden & Outdoor

It is a different and much more toxic chemical.
