I have a beautiful Husqvarna 1640 30-06 that my grandfather bought in the 60's. I would like to find a scope mounting solution that is reliable without comprising the sentimental appeal of the gun. I already have a .223 Rokslide special with paint pen all over the place; this rifle won't be that. I am just looking for an improvement over the el-cheapo set that is on the rifle now. I also plan on removing the Lewpy on it and replacing it with either an SWFA UL when they come back in stock, or a Trijicon Huron, so the scope diameter will still be one inch.

Beautiful rifle. Somewhat unrelated but an interesting fact that I learned recently. The Husqvarna logo is supposed to be the sight picture when looking through iron sights. Never even considered that but I thought it was cool. Did you know that? I didn't.

I did not know that. Did you know that husqvarna made musket barrels all the way back in the 1600's? Neat company.
