I wouldn’t want my only rifle to have a barrel that long but I wouldn’t shy away from hunting with it.

I have carried long barrels and currently carry a 22” barrel with about 5” of additional suppressor - never had a problem. I hunt and guide in the south Texas brush country and I’m 6’ 2” an I love that rifle. My height is more of a hassle than my rifle. Toting a longer rifle just requires a little creative handling at times. I used to worry about longer barrels more than I do now. Although, I probably won’t be toting a 30” barrel with a suppressor added unless I was going to be doing some ELR shooting that I’m not capable of anyway.

If I’m carrying a longer rig in thick brush I want a shoulder sling or something like the Kifaru gun bearer, where I can get it into my hands quickly and easily as I navigate a particularly thick area. I don’t think I’d like something long that’s inside my pack and sticking up, way over my head. If I’m running it in my pack I want it muzzle down and (in my case) I’d take the suppressor off while hiking. That 22” barrel is awfully handy.

I’m about to start testing a Extreme Outer Limit scabbard (made by Kifaru) on a Nomad 2. It’s a muzzle down system. I was curious to see how I like it for late season rifle Elk or mule deer and for some AK hunts.

This has something to do with hanging on stuff when slung over the shoulder? Carry it in your hand. You will have more shot opportunities.
