my 2001 toyota tacoma gets me anywhere i wanna go. Big camper shell on the back so all my gear doesnt get dusty and hides my yeti 210. Perfect size truck for fire roads without scratching the paint to much. But id rather have scratches on the outside and blood in the bed.

For my hunting rig, I went with a Colorado to get extra storage space for coolers, tents. elk racks etc. Cherokee's and 4 Runners are great vehicles but didn't give me enough space for gear or game. Mine is a 2018 stock ZR2 diesel with front and rear lockers. A lot of capabilities in a small truck.

My Solo rig; 2015 Xterra, w/usual overland accessories, sleeping capability and comfortable. 76" level sleep/bunk space in cab interior.
When I don't pitch a tent for a few days of hunting and/or need to stay mobile. Image is of morning-after desert archery buck hunt.

DIY storage/shelf/sleeper installed in back cargo area, fold down rear seats to fold over storage platforms to extend storage/sleep area. Fridge/Freezer 60qt 12v is game changer, no messing with ice and can refreeze ice packs to put into meat coolers. Park the rig, takes 20 minutes to rearrange gear, establish camp site and ready to eat, rest, sleep.
