Hunting Rifle Balance Point

I know many shooters like their rig to balance right in front of the mag well. I have a Howa Mini with a heavier contour custom barrel. Its 22" and with the can, the balance point is ahead of the mag well several inches. It has a M40 B&C stock.

For hunting rifles, is balance point something that is on y'all's radar?

I have a heavier can and a lighter scope on one rifle, drives me crazy. I’m going to need to make a change.

If you can shoot it accurately offhand, that is the most important thing. I’m only 5’10”, so I like a relatively short LOP (12-13”) and a balance point just forward of the magazine well. But, given the choice, I would rather have a heavy muzzle than a light one.

I like a balance point 3-4" in front the forward action screw, so that if I'm running detach mags that protrude they're not into my support bag if I'm shooting from improvised position, that's usually where I clip into Tripod as well, so that's where my arca attachment goes. I don't run pencil barrels, #3 or lite Pama at 20-22" with a can and a 30ish oz stock with a supressor out front, it usually works out.

3-4” in front of the front of the mag well or front action screw. Just like my heavy rifles, so they will balance on a front bag.

On a bdl setup or a flush mag it’s less important but I like to be able to balance my rifle on a front bag, I use a schmedium for everything.

Here’s the balance point in the hunting configuration. 10 lb 6 ARC with a Muellerworks barrel. I bet it’s going to be a breeze to spot hits in the field.
