Hi folks,

I'm from the midwest and work in agriculture harvesting corn and soybeans in the fall. The spring can also be a pretty busy time of year for me. I would love to get into western hunting, but I know that September/October timeframe can be hard to work around. Do you guys have any suggestions for seasons/animals I could look into that are outside of that timeframe? I love hunting with a bow, but rifle hunting has grown on me more and more as time goes on. Thank you for any help or advice you can offer me. I'm building up points for Antelope, Mule Deer, and Elk in Wyoming, and know early archery antelope is possible in August.

Not that there aren't some specific hunts but in general WY isn't friendly for that timeframe. If you talking DIY stuff start hitting state game and fish departments. Obviously there is spring bear, exotics in TX. Many states have later MZ seasons or Archery seasons last longer.

August mule deer in Nevada, August pronghorn, late rifle December elk hunts, oryx in nm (draw)

July and August you can hunt sheep, caribou, and muskox in various locations (Alaska, Canada, Greenland). New Zealand and Africa are filled with opportunities throughout the year.

There are lots of late season tags from Nov-Feb, just can’t be weapon or sex antagonistic

Yeah I had some buddies that were applying that told me I should start earning points there, that was before I really knew where the juice of the seasons landed. It's not totally out of the question for me to hunt there someday, I just need to earn a few more ranks in the family farming dynamic to say "I'm going to do this for a week, too bad" lol

I'm really appreciating all the suggestions, these are very helpful to look into. It can be overwhelming going state by state to see when the seasons are and know what animals are available as a non-resident. Thank you guys for your input, keep them coming if others have them

California you can hunt black bear in Nov and Dec
This is something I really want to do. I have been dreaming of hunting black bear for several years. I mostly hear about hunting them down in Arkansas though, or other places where people say if you aren't baiting them it's near impossible. Not sure if it's the same in California or not

Can't bait them in CA. Seems lots of guys are using calls now. I have one on order I hope to try out soon. There are lots of bears in CA, guys that are into that dont seem to have much trouble seeing some. I'm the wrong guy to give advice tho.
