The way you guys present Charlotte is terrifying lol
Some sort of a dysfunctional hellhole.

Yeah, private clubs are quite limited here in New England too. The waitlist is long and you got to be sponsored by someone. After the tragic event in Sandy Hook, the people started joining the gun or hunting clubs (many hunt clubs are also gun clubs here) to sabotage them and then get them closed. Many clubs responded by totally shutting down the memberships.
Admittedly, I never was too eager to join them, but when I inquired, I saw a lot of entry barriers erected.

The other challenge is, wherever I end up moving, my family won't be able to join me until the early September due to my wife's job. So, I am going to have to find a temporary place, such as Airbnb, where I can bring my two dogs with me and also leave them somewhere where I visit my family back in CT on weekends.
Moving sucks, when you are not single. I didn't know it until now.

Thanks everyone. I'll have to let them know by Wednesday, so I'll keep researching.

I have decided to take the deal. While I would much prefer to live in the west, I think this is great opportunity for me and my family to leave CT.

I'll have to start from scratch, but I think NC isn't too bad for my type of hunting. I will for sure miss my grouse spots in Catskills or my secret ponds for wood ducks, but I am hopeful to find new ones. Quail and dove hunting are totally unknown concepts for me, so I guess me and my dogs will have to learn smothering new.
VW isn't too far too. Maybe this is the time to start hunting deer! who knows...

My biggest challenge will be (besides moving the family and all related logistics) to find a public land, or a secluded area within a park in the Charlotte area where I can train my dog for upcoming test. This particular training involves laying down a 1200 yard long blood trail and age for 20 hours. I need to do it twice per week until mid October.

So far that only seems to be possible north of the city. There is some sort of a management area / park.

I have to find out the legal side of it. While it’s just a training and there is only a piece of deer hide and hoof in the end of track, someone can complain and get me in trouble.
