Hunting in Texas

Public land hunting Texas can be tough. Lots of pressure and you have to put in your time. It can be rewarding but well deserved

I've been in TX 7 years now, I like a lot of stuff about TX, dislike a lot of stuff. For the most part Texas doesn't live up to it's reputations, good or bad.

The hunting culture is WAY different that what you are probably used to.

Take the European landed nobility pay-to-play mentality and take away the elaborate rituals designed to show respect to the animals (and take away the respect for the animals while you are at it) and you have the mentality of what seems to be a majority of Texas hunters... sad to say. You meet some legit dudes (I think the Texans I've seen in here are representative of that camp) but most I run into seem to be almost like hunting-LARPers rather than actual hunters...

You just said what I’ve been trying to verbalize for years. It’s sad to say, but I’ve met many more hunters like what you’ve described than folks who truly respect wildlife.
