Hunting in National Parks

I saw it, seems like a typical order that doesn't really fit any other regs that make it hard to determine how to move forward.

I don't think its great for a lot of areas. Maybe other parts of the country it won't matter.

Some NPs already allow hunting..also define NP..does that include National seashore? A lot of those around me allow hunting.
The last NP that was added has hunting sections.

In my area there's no hunting in the NP'S, and guys work pretty hard to find the little spots omitted.

I know there's areas that allow hunting, some open, some by permit.

State controls tags, so in a lot of areas it won't matter too much. Other's, might get interesting.

I'd definitely apply for a swan or goose tag for the reflecting pool at the Lincoln Memorial.

I'm for some limited hunting in our National Parks. In my state of Colorado, Rocky Mountain NP has a definate problem with way too many elk. The hire people to thin the elk and pay them to do it. They could offer tags to hunters to do the same thing and make a lot of money instead of paying to do it. They have a similar problem with Bison in Yellowstone NP.

When I hear "National Park," I define that as any one of the 63 parks with "National Park" in the title. Yellowstone, RMNP, Acadia, etc.
There is currently almost zero hunting in them. Grand Canyon has had a bison hunt one year, Grand Teton does some kind of Elk hunt.
If you include National "preserve", "seashore", "monument" etc, there are more than 400 areas of which about 73 allow some type of hunting.(per Grok search)

I support some hunting in the National Parks, but I think we need to be careful as hunters. There will be alot more eyes on any NP hunt. I think it should be limited to areas away from the tourist crowds and away from main roads, etc.

I don't think we need any more roaded areas. Especially in the wilderness.

Early on when I lived in Missouri the deer populations in the state parks and some of the near St. Louis arboretums got out of control. They finally decided to have limited, draw only muzzleloader and archery hunts. I finally drew one of the MZ hunts and I can only say WOW. My hunt was only for 2 days but on day one (antlerless only) I saw 50 deer in the first half hour and killed one.

I don't see hunting in National Parks happening on any large scale. Even if they tried, it would get tied up in court longer than Trump will be in office.

It gotten brought up multiple times as solutions to budget problems. Or "less utilized" public lands being used for housing. Or states taking control of federal lands.

Overall anytime a politician claims to be helping us in a speech they are working on screwing us another way.

In Alaska National Parks do allow limited hunting to “qualified local residents with historical ties” and not accessible by airplane. They do allow general public in National “Preserve” lands.

ANCILA in 1975-1980 took away tons of public hunting in Alaska. Would love to reverse that, and also polar bear!

Our backyard NP has a handful of moose, goats and a few brown bear. Mostly a barren wasteland. The RM staff would chain themselves to trees to prevent hunting.
