Hunting in Grizzly Country with Casey Johnson

Today we have well versed hunting guide Casey Johnson on to discuss hunting in Grizzly country. Often times hunters will toss out the idea of hunting certain units only because it's also inhabited by Grizzly bears. We try to put some minds at ease while talking about our experiences, what to look out for and what you need to do to stay safe in bear country.

Awesome podcast! Been kinda making sure I have my poop in a group to be in g-bear country this elk season so this was needed for sure.

Really nice work, Jordan. Probably a good step closer to hunting grizzly country because of it.

One issue not covered was bowel movements. Not trying to be crude, but it is a reality of life and I'm curious how those who hunt and camp in grizzly country deal with this.

I wouldn't overthink that one. Trying to keep it in the same area probably isn't a bad idea and bury if you can. We just buried it typically. But sometimes you can't.

Good enough, thank you.

I thought of another question today. When traveling and the path you are on passes by a grizzly you can see what do you do? Lots of places you only have one trail unless you want to take an enormous detour. Wait? Try to edge by? Go somewhere else?

I’ve got a trip planned for 2020 in Alaska, transported for Caribou. Having never hunted, or recreated for that matter in grizzly country, I appreciated the topic and the info discussed in the podcast. Should be helpful. Thank you
