I have a pair of Kuiu Attack Pants that have outside zipper vents that help to dump heat when climbing and really enjoy this feature. Are there any other pants that have this feature besides the Kuiu Attacks? Looking to pickup a few more pairs but would like to see if there are other options out there.

I think all Kuiu pants have them, except the Teton. Not sure of other brands that have them.

Alpines have them, I have a pair. The fabric is much cooler wearing than the attack, and tougher.

I checked outdoor research, didn't see any that have side zips. I can't imagine kuiu is the only brand out there running them though.

Thanks for the brief description of the differences between the two. Still not able to find any other pants with the side vents.

I had Sitka Ascent and mountain pants a few years back and liked those but they were also missing side vents to dump heat while climbing. Would like to find an light to medium weight pant with some stretch but durable available in solid colors that can also be worn around town.

Ha you're right they do. I have a pair also and have never noticed them...easy to skip over considering how many zippers there are. Four pockets on each side!

Kuhl renegades have thigh pockets that double as vents. They are made of mesh.

Fjallraven Keb and Fjallraven Lappland pants have side zip vents. The Kebs have them on the outside of the leg (like Kuiu) as well as on the ankle portion. They're heavier than the Attacks though. Not sure what your intended temp range might be. I'm a fan of them and wear them a fair bit, but they are a bit pricey if you don't catch them on sale somewhere.

No it does not need to be that light weight. These would be used for general hiking and hunting pants in CO and WY- I like the fit and the material of the Attacks but after one season they are full of fabric pulls and worn pretty good- looking for something that is more durable but still breathes well with side vents. The Fjallraven pants look interesting, might need to get a pair of those.
