I read this simple article a while back and really enjoyed it

http://soleadventure.com/2014/05/hunting-for-something-awful-as-all-men-should/

I particularly liked

“That sucked.”
Before my mind can complete that thought, another comes… “I wonder when I can do it again.”

I love exercising and having the goal of elk hunting to drive me. But today, I truly felt like the author did in writing the line above. My buddy and I hiked 7.5 miles on a fairly aggressive mountain bike trail, and I carried 60lbs today.

I'm not gonna lie. At about mile 6, legs tired, blisters talking to me, hot, humid Texas kind of day, it sucked.

And I wondered "When can I do it again?"

Cheers to all of us getting ready for the hunting season and doing what it takes whether it sucks of not. It's worth it for damn sure!

I like that as well, thanks for sharing! Your time spent doing awful now, will help translate to smiles come September.

Yep, it's called "seize the suck". It takes a special kind of someone to be able to do that. It's easy to wake up everyday and feel good, but to try kick your own ass....well not everyone is wired for that.

I really do think much of what holds us back is mental. Rationalizing a way to avoid Something Awful instead of recognizing that we should attack and conquer it.

This happens even while you're in the middle of your pursuit of Something Awful. Cut your run back. Lift lower weight, fewer reps,...

Conquering the mental now will provide mental and physical benefit later.

Keep attacking. Seize The Suck!!!

Elk hunting has always been a love/hate relationship for me. I always come back bruised and bloody and beat to heck, but that's just part of the experience. By the second day after the season is over, I'm ready for opening day again........in 11 months.
