Hey everyone,

I am in the market for a new pair of boots. Looking for some insight. I am considering Lowa and Crispi boots right now. Wondering if I am missing another brand and/or model worth considering?

I am from the mid-west so I do western mountain hunts as well as mid-west hunts.

Thanks!

Pick a good reputable brand like crispi, lowa, scarpa, etc and order a few different pairs and try a bunch of them on or go to the store and try them on. Could be the best boot out there for one guy but if it doesn’t fit your feet its worthless.
Do you like stiff soled boots? Lowa Tibet, Kenetrek Mountain Extremes, Schnees Granite. Or would you rather something lighter more flexible? I have a pair of Scarpa Kailash GTX that are very comfortable and supportive (packed out a bull and a full deer with them last season) but the membrane gave out quickly.
Crispi has a really good flex indicator on all their boots, heard really good things about them but no experience yet.

I can not recommend Asolo Fugitive enough to guys looking for a great all-around boot. If you were strictly hunting steep high terrain out west I would recommend something a bit stiffer.

Good choices, I've had the best luck with Crispi and Lowa. Zamberlans have good pretty good as well. Then Meindl. I have a pair of Hanwag's on order. I've had the absolute worst luck with Kenetreks. Some guys love them, they didn't work for me. Everyone's feet like different boots, so going by recommendations online is a bit of a risk. It sucks, but it's true.

another thing (and take this from PERSONAL experience) after you find your "perfect" boot, care for them as the MAKER tells you to ! (retailers say a lot of stuff when they're selling you something, after the fact not so much)

Cam Hanes has a new UA boot $300. Selling like hot cakes and most places are sold out.

If he uses them, which he said he did last year doing the R&D they gotta be pretty good all around. He says they do keep you dry as long as you don’t submerge them. He runs in them in the Oregon mountains and they have good traction.

Not my type of boot for Florida swamp hunting and $300 is rich for about a $150 boot ? But everything is getting crazy high these days.
