Hunting another state

I grew up in northeast pa and thats all of the hunting experience i have so far. Im looking to try some western big game hunting out within the next few years. I started collecting elk preference points to a few states (colorado montana and wyoming) but i think its a good idea to check in with people that have done it more to see where you guys recommend i go and any advice on gear or anything else you guys have. Ive been reading for the last couple of years about gear reviews, its kinda easy to get lost in the rom spoomer type of paid reviews and whats legit

You are in the right place…..I would recommend maybe listing your preference of animals you are interested in. If you are really adventurous, you could do some diy OTC hunts, or if you budget allows do a few guided hunts to help see where your interests lie.

I would probably do guided at least for the first couple since its all very new. The hunting im used to has less than 70 yard visibility so im very out of my element. Im hoping to do some elk and mule deer within the next few years and within 10 years im looking to do an alaskan brown bear and moose hunt, but the western elk hunting has been high on my list to try out
