I have an area I want to hunt/explore that holds snow until early June. Elevation is 6000'. I'd like to plan a hunt after snow melt that coincides with bears chasing elk calves. Season runs until the end of June. Should I plan early June or towards the end of season?

Well usually calves start hitting the ground in late May and early June. If there's that much snow around that area there won't be many elk in it the calves can't get around. By mid June the boars are cruising and covering lots of ground looking for sows. I'd say go towards the end of May or early June and hunt just below snow line it's probably your best bet.

I’m not very experienced with bears - went on my first spring trip last year. Last week of May there were a lot of calves hitting the ground that week - got to see one be born right below us. No bears ever showed up to that area though.

Elevation was in that 6-8k range. There wasn’t a snow line really, but all the animals/green grass were at that elevation range.
