Hoyts Improved String Angle

Well I finally got to do some experimenting with the new Hoyts String angles. I normally go with the 34" axle model every year, including this years, however my curiosity got the best of me with the Defiant 31 string angle. I'll be getting exact angles in degrees tomorrow on my Nitrum 34,Defiant 34 and Defiant 31 shortly after that. The only real reason this sparked my interest in the first place is due to my short draw length(27.5) being perfectly efficient in a shorter axle bow, however hating the previous years BH,ATA and more than anything the overly aggressive string angle. Well this year is a huge improvement. Not really sure if I'm gonna fully like my Carbon Defiant 31 over my Carbon Defiant 34 and Defiant 34 but the angle is very close to last years 34" which I am very pleased with.Anyone else's input would be great! Anyone here happy with the 31" this year after recently owning or shooting previous years 34"?

Note* Forgive my fat face, can't help it lol

The first pic is my Defiant 34, a almost effortless sting angle, much like any target bow I have shot.

This is my Nitrum 34 string angle, a very comfortable angle, not much difference between this year and the new 34" angle, they are nearly the same, maybe a little less than this new 34".

This one is the Defiant 31. This is were I am impressed, the string angle is very very close if not spot on with last years 34". Maybe a little less, can't fully tell till I get measurements, any input in this?

I have a CSTZT and a CE....both short bows. Then all of my others which are all 37+. I shot the new Defiant this year and it felt good, but not good enough for me to want to forsake my CST from last year. I'm a tad over 29".

Maybe post this in the archery section for more opinions.

I've got measurements off of my Nitrum 34 and Defiant 34 but was hoping someone with a Defiant 31" in a #2 cam would be willing to get me a measurement off of theirs? Just need a over length from edge of cam to cam at full draw.

I have all Hoyt bows and love how easy they are to tune but here is my problem with the new setup. You need a special press/adapters and this is something I can't risk being a traveling bowhunter. I always have a spare set of tuned strings, peep, e clips and bow master in my case when I'm out of state, I can fix anything but an exploded limb or bent cam on the road.

With the new limb angle you will need to find a Hoyt shop if you needed to press it on the road or bring two bows. The bow master will not work and I'll need to drop a few hundred extra dollars just to work on the bow in my basement.

For me I'll just stick with a 33 or 34 ATA bow since I can't see a bow with the above risks and extra costs is better than my Hoyt CST.

Anyone with a new 31" in a #2 cam willing to get me that measurement?

I think you're overthinking it and already answered your own question. If the 31 feels good, looks good and feels as good as the 34, then what does knowing the measurement accomplish? I mean, if you get a measurement and it's a higher angle than you thought, are you not going to like how it feels because now you know the number? But no, I don't know of a 31 on the island, or I'd go get you a measurement. I'm just saying, don't sweat the numbers. If it feels good, what do the numbers matter? Or in my case, don't go for it. I didn't measure either my CST from last year or the Defiant I shot in Anchorage a few months ago...I just didn't think it was a significant enough of a feel to justify me getting excited about it. And if I knew the measurements to be 20* different, that wouldn't change how I feel about each bow.

No your absolutely right. Guess that's just the Mechanical engineer in me coming out lol

This still I took from a video on YouTube shows how comfortable the 31" is. Glad I got one ordered.
