Man it has been awhile since I have had time to shoot any long range at all. Here is the first go at 80 yards with the CS 30

I'd like to see a penetration test at those ranges. My issue is not the accuracy of modern bows but the amount of downrange energy and how they perform at that range. I upgraded my Spyder 34 to 80 pound limbs recently and found an improvement in accuracy. Just for my sense of confidence I'd like to know it can still penetrate at that 80 yrd range vs. 60. Nice shooting!

The issue with bow shots at long range isn't one of accuracy or energy, it is more an issue of whether the target will still be there when the arrow gets there. Having said that, the typical current compound bow set-up has more than enough energy to efficiently kill at 80 yards. I have only ever shot one animal at 80 yards (antelope), and the ~430 gr. arrow launched at 270 fps was enough to push a 2" cut MBH in through the meat of the shoulder and out through the flank and had enough energy left over to stick in the ground beyond the lope. As I have become more experienced as a bowhunter (20 years this year), I find my maximum range becoming shorter rather than longer.

Great shooting! It's amazing a bow with a roller guard can shoot sub 20" groups past 20 yards based on what I've read on AT...

Very nice Shane! So now that you have a few arrows with the Driver sight what do you think about it? Only reason I keep asking is because I have an Ascent and Driver both waiting for me at home. Going to see which one I prefer.

What range were you shooting at? Didn't look like Fort Collins.

I just got lucky :), static roller guards can't shoot like that. It's amazing what people come up with on the Internet sometimes.

So far I am liking it we will see as time goes by how it holds up. Like how lightweight it is but still seems to be built very well. I did take the red plastic insert out and like the viewing better this way. It leaves it open where before they had a piece to the inside that went into the housing I didn't care for.
That was my first time at that range, it's in Windsor near Water Valley

Thanks for the kind words guys . Can't wait to put some more time behind this one down range

Are those the layered carpet target butts? Absolutely hate those things. Pull back muscles trying to pull arrows, and they always come out with globs of carpet glue stuck to them.

Other than that, great shooting. I love shooting 80. But with my eyes I'd have trouble seeing that tiny piece of tape to aim at.:(

Nope, they are the rubber mats layered and compressed together. Definitely fun finally getting down range a little bit
