Looks like this will be my go to this year in Ridge Reaper.

They really hit it out of the park with this new lineup. Draw cycle, vibe, on the shot experience, efficiency, overall balance and hold on target, string angle alignment were all improvements IMO.

The wait begins

Ill be ordering a Carbon Defiant Turbo is the RR camo. Really love the improvements they made. Only have the Defiant 30 in so far but its an impressive bow. One of the easiest tuning Hoyts ever. Solid line up this year. Hard to believe they could improve on last years line up but it really is an overall improved line.

Agreed !!!!

That Turbo is sweet, still really like my Nitrum Turbo and will probably replace it with the Defiant Turbo

I saw someone mention on another thread on AT about the timing changing with a change in draw length. I was curious about this and did a little experimenting with this today. I set the time in the 3C slot(29"). I just ran it dead even. After setting it I shortened the draw length to the 3A(28") and it did indeed throw the timing off by quite a bit. The bottom cam was hitting a 1/4" ahead of the top after the change. It was the opposite when I lengthened it to the 3E(30") slot. This was done without the limb stop installed. Just something for guys to be aware of when playing around with the draw length.

Yep ^^^ 🏼

I found even with the old to need a little but not as much as the new system

Switching it up, the Carbon Defiant Turbo will be my pick this year. I am shooting the Nitrum Turbo so well, I can't seem to step down from that platform.

Shane - have you chrono'd a set up / tuned Turbo yet? Any review you could share on the bow? Looking at one of these myself.

Man, I love that Ridge Reaper camo.. Sexy..

My only gripe is I like taller bows so I wish the 34s had the same speed as the smaller ones ;(

Still going to shoot one though before I make a choice next year..

The Turbo is 33" ATA, so only 1" shorter. And, if you believe Hoyt's claims - it's supposed to shoot like a 36" bow...

Well...

I have a 2 year old Spyder Turbo now and I like it. It's a good bow. No problems, although initial tuning was a PIA.

After using it extensively, I really want to move to a bigger 7+" brace height this time around.. I'm willing to sacrifice some speed, but not a ton.. 326 (I believe) is a little bit on the low side.. But like I said, I'm definitely shooting one before I decide!

I'm also very curious about this new line. Wonder what kind of speeds the 34 ATA versions will actually shoot? I have a 2014 Carbon Spyder right now and it's shooting in the low 290's with a 400 grain arrow. Great bow just a little touchy on hand placement. Also the improved head placement with the new limbs would be an awesome improvement. Hate to spend money on new bow but this has definitely caught my interest. Also like the 7 inch brace height. Not crazy about speed just want to be around 290 with a good hunting setup. Everything the write up's I've been reading seems like Hoyt is concentrating on shootability this go around like Elite has been advertising.

To me, Hoyt seems like they basically made small improvements. Both functionally and cosmetically.

Elite has gone in a very strange direction this year..

They are usually all about smoothness, not speed, but their new bows are speed bows.

They were also usually shot by lots of the DIY blue collar guys like First Lite and sandsarchery but now they're bows are coming in Kuiu camo.

Guess they're trying to market towards a different crowd?

I got to shoot the defiant (not carbon) turbo yesterday and have already shot the 30 (also not carbon). I was very close to buying a Hoyt last year but decided to wait since it was only a month away from the release of the 2016's. GLAD I DID. The new cams are definitely an improvement in the draw cycle over the last years and the string angle is noticeable. Regarding head angle: When I shot the 30, I thought, this feels pretty good. When I shot the Turbo, I literally bumped into my nose. As far as opinions, the shop manager said the carbon hoyt is a no brainer over the PSE and said he will be selling his CST from last year to shoot the Defiant Turbo. Again, his opinion but from what I shot of the aluminums, he can't be that far off. I really can't wait to shoot the 34 to see what it is like and will also wait to see what Mathews comes out with next week. Either way I am a winner as everything is better than my nearly 15 year old Legacy!

Sorry, I have not. The Carbon Defiant Turbo's will still be a little wait so my personal will be awhile.

I do have several guys that have ordered the Defiant Turbo in Ridge Reaper so when they come in, I will give you some specs.

Just wish we would hurry up and get our Turbos in. I'm anxiously waiting to shoot that bow!! Regardless Ill be ordering a Carbon Defiant Turbo in RR camo to replace my current Carbon Turbo.

If I could swing it I'd also add a HyperEdge in there to. My gawd that bow is a freaking shooting machine. So smooth and holds on target like a rock.

Yep, if I could swing it I would probably have 3 this year

The Carbon Turbo, 31 and the Hyper Edge

Off topic but what other bow brands do you guys carry?
