Looking at both. I know I'd have to change the trigger on the Gen 2. I don't know anything about the Howa. Just want some input on them. Thanks

No real complaints on the Ruger yet, have a predator and ranch in 6.5. I'll probably do the trigger at request of my daughter, but I found it ok. Never held a howa.

I currently own a RA G2 in 5.56 and did a build (rebuild?) on my Howa 1500. Of the two I think the Howa was a better rifle overall. The adjustable trigger was nice. The RA needs a trigger upgrade to be as good.

The stock on the RA is better than the Hogue flimsy plastic BS that came with the Howa. I would happily pick up another Howa if I caught a good deal on one to do another build based on it. I doubt that I would ever bother using the RA for a build, although I would purchase another one if the right deal came around.

I think Howa is offering the 22 ARC in its Superlight or Mini action. I would start there.

Definitely the Howa Mini, it is a surprisingly good action w/ some pretty good aftermarket stocks.

I have a 20” GEN2 RA in 22 ARC and it’s been good for me. No issues and it shoots well.

I got a Ruger for my 9yo, shoots great. I planned to change the trigger, but it was better than expected. Just under 3.5lbs in my wheeler scale.
The howa is intriguing, but the Ruger also goes down to a 12" LOP. I've got kids and most adjustable stocks still don't even go that short. I enjoy shooting it also, and eventually I'm sure I'll upgrade the trigger and stock.

5 deer so far. 3 with 88 ELDMs and 2 with 80gr ELDx. I like the 80's a little better I think, but it's probably the velocity.

88s: 2640fps
80s: 2805fps
Both factory Hornady, 20" barrel

My Howa Mini Carbon Stalker is so light it feels like a BB gun. It has the 22” thinner profile barrel. I added the Jefferson Outdoors BDL bottom metal. I like it, but I need to paint the stock maybe. It feels sort of slick.

Howa for sure. Still terrible support for Ruger Americannin the aftermarket.

Howa is a real long time action with tons of support and options. No brainer.

magpul, Boyds, MDT, Woox, KRG for stocks. I don't think that is 'terrible support', even though you don't 'like' them.....
Magpul- Junk
Boyds- Heavy, bad ergonomics, wood
MDT- Field Stock? Junk. Chassis? Fine.
Wooks- arent those like 3lbs?
KRG- Excellent.

So there is one good option for a hunting application in the KRG and its on the heavy side. Two if you want to build a chassis from MDT. There are zero carbon fiber vertical grip stocks available for the Ruger.

What magazine do you have on that 22 arc?

Are you like a weakling? They make one at 2.2 pounds for ya.....

Dude. We get it. You like Ruger Americans. You dont have to take it personal.

You have put together some really nice guns. Ive seen them. Some of the nicest RAs I have seen.

I have a sample size of one with RAs, a .308 predator. I bought it based on the overwhelming feedback from guys like yourself who say how great they are. That rifle cost me several hundred dollars worth of reloading components, factory ammo, and was eventually sent back to Ruger, who then rebarreled it because the gun shot 2 moa at 100 yards on its best day. They sent it back and it was a 1" gun. It fed like trash before and after I got it back from ruger. I sold it due to lack of any stock that would be desirable for a dedicated hunting rifle.

This thread is the OP asking our opinions as to why he should choose which rifle. I stated why I wouldn't go with the Ruger, my personal opinion. I dont think there is enough suitable options for stocks for a hunting rifle. Thats my opinion. It has clearly upset you.

Could you explain why the Ruger is a better choice than the Howa?
