Howa Mini Rifles, Builds, and Upgrades

I fully disassembled my bolt the other day. Polished the bolt face, ejector, and smoothed up the extractor a little to. I also polished the cocking ramp and the face between the main bolt body and handle part. While I was at it I clipped 2 coils from the firing pin spring. Sprayed it all down with hornady one shot cleaner and lube and wow it feels good. Shot it a few times and no more brass shavings on the bolt face and no more super heavy bolt lift. If it comes back it’s gotta be something with the chamber

How many rounds have you fired after clipping firing pin spring? Any misfires or other issues?

I wouldn’t want one that takes AR mags. To limiting on cartridge length.

At that price point you can get a Tikka barreled action from LS Wild and have full Tikka action support for aftermarket accessories. The only way I'd be interested is if they will sell an action as a pistol action in order to get around having to do an SBR and have the ability to cross state lines with it.

Can’t wait till I can give it to my barely adult kid still pestering him to get his firearms license as he’s sleeping at the wheel on this if he wants to start rolling solo hunts...i digress, he’s rolling like 3 jobs and his candle has 4 wicks and they are all on fire so...pester i must but not complaining about it, just complaining that I still technically own a howa mini

But he’s one of my kids that just loves it. I think I can trust he won’t lose the magazine so I put JO CZ bottom kit back on as it’s such a tiny action that finger feeding it is a pia with hinged bottom lol. The cz mag kit is pretty sweet.

I hate this little setup but it never doesn’t throw 3 factory eldm into half minute regardless of distance so it stays. But I hate it, did I mention that already?

I put JO CZ bottom kit back on as it’s such a tiny action that finger feeding it is a pia with hinged bottom lol. The cz mag kit is pretty sweet.

Sounds like you got it figured, but if you have a hinged floorplate on a mini you can just dump the rounds in from the bottom, get them settled and close it up. Works great.

well that’s thinking ahead lol, hate that I hadn’t even thought of the reverse engineering angle lol, good tip, if I put it back on will see if the kids find it intuitive, will roll cz 5 round for easy button for awhile, good handle btw

i put a rifle basix trigger in mine yest. trigger is very nice upgrade, not real happy with the safety, works fine i just dont feel it goes back to safe an stays there. it hasnt went back to fire or anything, just feels wierd and cant explain it. mushy may be the best word. so overall i like it, worth the upgrade as the hact was not working correctly.

sorry, grandkids were jumping all over me while i was typing.
the rifle basix. the trigger pull is great, creep is great, totally a better trigger and worth the upgrade to me, tho my hact was doing some funky things an not right.
what i dont like about the rifle basix is the safety. it "feels" fine moving it to fire, but putting it back on safety just feels like mush, spongy, something, not a solid its on safety feel. hopefully i get use to it.
