I have a Howa mini in 223 kitted out with an Oryx chassis and MDTs 10-round magazines (other stuff as well, but it can be parted out and used on other platforms). The problem is that with six types of factory match ammo and four different reloads, it simply cannot group better than 1.5” for five shots and more like 2-2 1/4 for 10-shot groups. The other day, I outshot it with my Bergara BMR 22lr in factory form at 100 yards and decided to give up on the barrel.
My question is primarily to those who have experience with Howa mini 223 barreled actions and “pre-fits” like Preferred BB. Should I drop 800 to get a PBB or buy another 223 barreled action for 400 and hope I get a better shooter? Or should I take the loss on the mini, resell what I can’t reuse, and buy a Tikka 223 varmint?
