So i bought a 20" hb 6arc howa mini, slapped it in a mdt oryx, put a jard 12oz trigger in it, a vortex 4-16 atop and started feeding it handloads.

My question is this, im coming from tikka varmit, ace game, & upr rifles, do these things not shoot on the same level? Just seems really finicky & hard to get under 1/2 moa with. Was really hoping to make this into a buget plinker for 500yd steel.

What bullet profile are you using? I'm trying to find a load for mine with a very similar setup. The hornady 108 eldm do not seem to agree with it. Factory hornady match and my hand loads with 8208 xbr and varget and it hasn't really been 1 moa or less. Sometimes it'll put 4 touching but one out will be over an inch away. But more commonly its a group of 2".

I'll be trying some TMKs next. Hoping the tangent ogive will be more consistent.

112 barnes matchburners, 105 eld match (hornady black), 87 vmax, 85 sierra hpgk.

The matchburners do about 3/4 moa, the blacks are 5/8 prolly, the vmax did .5, the 85's have done the best, but the bc of the sierra is 1/2 the bc of the matchburner.

Half moa is a lofty goal for most rifles.
Realistic is 1-1.5 for an actual relative group size of 10-30.
10 inside an inch or less is very good. All about that rifle dispersion.

Mine is a 1 moa gun. It shot better with the factory bottom metal/magazine. 108 eldms do better than 109s. 107 tmks are about the same as 109s.

Action, stock, scope, and can are 7 lbs.

Shot mine for the first time this morning. Was short on time, so I did a rough sight in and then shot 3 5 shot groups. The top left, and top right are factory Hornady 108 ELDM’s- the bottom left is factory Hornady Black 105 BTHP’s. Gun is totally stock, shooting prone in the gravel (no mat🙄) off of cheap Caldwell bags, front and back. I was very pleased with initial results- I think there is a lot of potential. No brake or suppressor.
Came home and clipped the trigger spring (feels much better), and floated the barrel, as it was touching in several places. Can’t wait to shoot it again!
