Thanks for that. What I found searching was for a no DEF CAT engine is above 750hp for stationary application. So I guess you’re right that’s off road. I was thinking more along the lines of something used in construction equipment.

Cool tech though. Something is going to have to change. Nothing but problems with after-treatment systems thus far.

I don’t think anyone knows. I think most people buy the wrong vehicle based on their crystal ball.

Buy if you have to, otherwise, invest and wait. Vehicles lose you money, period.

Yeah, I've got a buddy with Volvo, he's brought it up as a "this is possible, but how do we get there", it's likely a ways off, but seems doable. DEF is just problematic enough that the motivation to engineer around it is there.

I mean a decade ago what a new Powerstroke is putting out was a pretty impressive setup. Now it's a stock emissions legal truck.

The economics of oil production aren’t a secret - the boom and bust has played out over and over, and it all revolves around price. I don’t expect anyone to believe anything I’ve posted - they should look into for themselves. The fellow that was interviewed isn't that much different from many other analysts, in the US and abroad. That’s what I’m basing my personal decisions on - you’re welcome to believe whoever you like.

There are some tier 4 motors that do not require DEF or DPF. My understanding is that engines can get away with it, if it has a specific type of injection and is a constant RPM. Constant RPM meaning generator type use, where the motor will start and the the motor will ramp up to its given speed(generally 1800 rpm) all within a specific timeframe.

Actually new cars have gotten cheaper the last 12 months or so. Ram trucks were re-invoiced this year for lower amounts. Rebates, which basically were nonexistent for 3 years have also come back.

This is what I've experienced as well. I've been casually searching for a new vehicle the past few years and it's only been in the past year where rebates and dealer pricing have been pretty enticing. Finally pulled the trigger on a vehicle in December at a great price.

Well for one you’re buying a new vehicle when the one you have is perfectly fine. 100,000 miles is absolutely nothing on a vehicle this isn’t 1982.

But go on brother, rabid consumerism is the cool kid thing nowadays. But just know that you’re keeping up with the Joneses is driving up the cost of everything faster than Sleepy Joe could do it. Buy buy buy buy because i want what i want and i want it NOW. Dont care if im being ripped off.
