What kind of layering and how cold have you worn your sanctuary in? Looking at getting one, mainly stand hunt in Kansas. Generally low 20's is as cold as I hunt in but it can get pretty cold at times too.
I have worn mine in the Treestand for two seasons now in upstate NY. It is very warm. I typically wear a FL Chama hoody and a FL fleece under it. They run a bit large in size. I wear a Large in most of my FL tops but a medium fit me great.
Agree that the sanctuary jacket is plenty warm, plus very quiet. I've comfortably sat all day in teens and single digits. Run merino lightweight and midweight base layers along with the sanctuary bib and the only thing that might get cold are your finger tips. I pack mine into the stand or else would overheat way too much. Nice jacket!
I have the bibs & jacket. They are an absolute oven if you try to walk in them. I pack them until I'm stationary.
My Kansas rifle deer hunt this year was 10 straight days of hunting. There were 2 days in the negative teens windchill. I was hunting a specific buck, and I sat on the ground on a pad unprotected from the wind in an ambush spot. Those 2 coldest days I set from 1pm until dark (approx 5 hours), both days. On that 2nd cold@#$ day I connected just before shooting light. No way I could have made those sits without being warm and comfortable.
This is what I wore those cold days.
On bottom I had FL boxers, FL Allegheny 230 bottoms, Sanctuary Bibs, and my FL puffy wrapped over my non-insulated boots to keep my feet warm. On top I had Kuiu 145 T-shirt, FL Chama 1/4 zip, Go-Lite Bitterroot Down puffy, Sanctuary Jacket, FL Balaclava, and stocking hat, Kuiu Down mits with merino liners. Safety glasses were worn to keep the wind off my eyes.
I have the Woodbury which is the lighter version of the hunting jacket. I paired it up with a puffy underneath on a 15* day in NY. Warm sitting still. Don't expect to walk around in it. I slowly walked and still hunted back to my truck for about two miles and was drenched in sweat. I imagined the sanctuary is that or warmer.
I have not worn mine in anything extremely cold but with just a synthetic base layer and the jacket on top and Teton pants and cheaper insulated bibs I was almoast too warm in the low 30s. I would say with a fleece jacket and base layers under the pants I could easily go down into the teens without an issue. It is an extreamly warm jacket and plenty quiet for bow hunting.
I hunt in Kansas as well, and as a Texan, im not exactly acclimated for the cold. Ive worn the sacutary bibs and jacket to single digits and stayed WARM. The kidney warmer pockets are BOMBER. The jacket is as quiet as an Under Armour hoody. I wear the bibs, fully vented, walking into the stand. I put the jacket on the last 100 yards. I don't sweat too much this way and am actually quite comfortable hiking in just the bibs with the temps in the teens.
