Im not sure where to start this but I thought optics was close. When Im not hunting in the woods I usually carry my slr with me but have not found a good system to carry it. What do you all use? I want something that keeps it accessible but protected from weather and debris.

Saw this on here somewhere. https://peakdesign.com/store/capturepro Used it on a few ski tour pack ins this winter and am really impressed with it. I know it doesnt provide any protection but it still allows bino access. I think I will sew some bungie type straps on a piece of sil nylon for a cover.

I put mine with a 300 lens in a tamarak bag. The Tamarak bags have 2 belt slides so they are much more stable. They zip correctly so the flap opens toward you for one handed access. The front pocket is big enough to put a 55 lens in along with keys and a couple other things you don't want to lose. They are insulated nicely. I am pretty certain a vortex or nikon 50mm will fit in my bag. I cut all the excess crap off of it, and it is pretty light. I found a pick with it on.

I have the Peak Design Capture Camera Clip as well and really like it. Lots of different ways to mount it on a pack or just on your belt. Easy one-handed operation if necessary. For protection you could get a neoprene cover of sorts. Or check out some of their new products like the Shell and even the Bino kits.

I like that toad. Does it get in the way at all though? Whats the biggest lens on camera it will fit?

Can't really swing the arm at all on that side. I usually carry my gun in front of me when on the move, so that is not horrible. I love it when not hunting. I usually go with the small camera when hunting, and ammo and range finder replace this bag. I have tried to figure out a great way to carry this camera, but it is hard to justify the size and the weight. This fits the XTI body with the 70-300IS lens.
