How to Add Weight to Your Pack?

I’ve used the gravel before. Also used a 2x4 cut to 44” to simulate the rifle and not freak out the neighbors. Didn’t like the 2x4 as the weight didn’t match the rifle. I may try the 2” pvc pipe filled with sand above. I can have the weight match exactly as the rifle and still get used to it being strapped on the pack.

Milk jugs filled with water, duct taped together. Place side by side and then layer them up so the weight says close to your back. With water it’s easy to drop the weight quickly if needed or have a drink if it’s hot.

I used to take bricks and wrap them in duck tape to soften sharp edges to protect the bag.

Now I use a Goruck GR1 with ruck weights from Amazon.

I use individual bags filled with sand (~10#) and put them in a large trash bag, sometimes on the load shelf and sometimes in the pack. Just depends on the day to change the load up a bit. I'll usually stuff something light in the bottom of the bag to keep the weight high.
