How much velvet preservative?

Getting ready to order a bottle of 4 in 1 Liqua Mount per Roy Grace's article. Is a pint sufficient to do one mule deer rack in the field, or is the 1/2 pint plenty?

I'll be taking in a full pint of Velvet Antler Tan by Knoblochs for my archery deer hunt in Idaho this coming September. I have used this product around the shop and it works great. Generally I wont use a whole pint on one set of antlers but if a 200"er step in front of one of my arrows I might need the whole thing

I do a lot of them here at my Taxidermy shop, mainly exotics, Axis, Fallow and Sika along with a few whitetail. I saw the antler off right at the burr and freeze dry them to preserve the velvet. While the velvet it freeze drying, I boil the skull and get it ready to go. Once every thing is cured and cleaned up we re-attach the antlers to the skull and it's good to go

I've had a hard time with this, but with limited experience. The velvet deer I have had my hands on have been mostly hard horned underneath. I've never been able to find a vein. So I've just soaked the exterior heavy with Velvet Tan and then fluffed back up once dry. Seems to have worked so far. Haven't thought about this in a couple years but plan on wrapping my tag around a coues in a few weeks and it will be an issue again. So Roy Boy, what's the proper procedure when they are too hard for the injection technique?

Good plan but won't work for those of us who 1. care about P&Y and 2. are in the sticks without easy access to a freezer.

this is true when it comes to P&Y, but if your just wanting to do a euro with velvet antlers you can preserve them in the field with 4 in 1 velvet tan and get them in a freezer as soon as you get home, then freeze dry them later, or not freeze dry them at all if you are happy with the velvet tanning methods.

I have a velvet mule deer from Nevada that is Euro mounted. It can be done, but the taxidermist must take his time

When I euro I use beetles verse boiling. I've never done a velvet beetle one. Bet it would be sweet. But tough to keep beetles from the velvet I bet

The guy who did mine, put plastic wrap or similar around antlers, then duct taped it really tight around bases and seems, then boiled. He did make a wire hanger so it didn't sit down entirely in the solution. Came out well.

Where are you guys getting the syringes/needles at? A couple of the sites I've checked say you need a prescription.....

What did shipping cost you on the 4 in 1? They wanted $25.00 to ship 2 pints to Idaho, maybe due to special shipping on chemicals... Also, anyone tried Bollman's Velvet tan?
