On my latest bull, my guide called in an additional helper to help us pack it out. It was challenging terrain, but between the three of is got it out in one trip..so Very heavy packs, and about 5 hours.

I have no idea how much to tip the extra guy.

Thoughts?

Last time I called for help a buddy and I got mine out after a long day of packing and using game carts. I gave him a $200 gift card for a sporting goods store for his time and effort. He was very appreciative.

Before I answer that I have a couple questions. Did he also pack you in and out of camp? Is he also serving as a camp jack feeding horses, stocking your tent with firewood, hauling water, and helping the cook, etc.? If so, $200 for the week.

Here we go....

What? A helper who’s brought in for five hours of work he’s already getting paid for?

I mean, a $100 dollar tip seems fairly generous.

We don’t know the total guide cost, nor do we know if the helper was helping the whole time, or if he was just a guy brought in for literally five hours of work.

I agree with your statement as well. If I disrupted my buddies whole day and he spent it helping me get my animal out, I’d bend over backwards to show him I was appreciative. But we’re talking about a paid employee of the guide, who the OP is saying came in for five hours to help.
