Ok so I won’t say I got into an argument with the wife but discussion was had about how much hunting I do. So I’m the last year I hunted Aoudad and javelina in west Texas for a week, spent 10 days in NV chasing mule deer, then 9 days in Colorado for elk and have been chasing coues deer for the last couple weeks here in AZ. The discussion was spurred by my plan to spend all day Saturday and Sunday in the wilderness chasing deer.

So how much do you all hunt?
I feel like there is a difference between sneaking out for a weekend trip and leaving for a couple weeks to hunt out of state. I do both and I’ll never keep track of that. I just remind my wife of all the stuff we do as a family and make sure she gets her time away for girls trips or whatever is important for her to decompress and we are good to go.

I buy preference points (read kiss her ass) every chance i get so that when I tell her I am going hunting or fishing a bass tournament there is never a word.

Now that my son is old enough to pretty much manage the majority of his day things are gonna start coming back up Jeremy next fall. I already told the wife that if I was coming home by myself in 3rd grade living in a city he can handle an hour at home alone in 5th grade in a town of 500 where our next door neighbors are great friends. Hes also a kid I trust to do the right thing.

Dad is gonna have a little more time to hunt and fish in the near future and he likes to go too at times. She on the other hand couldnt care less about either so I just say "you could come too, you choose not too". Her thing is the SXS, all our friends own them so she wants to run that damn thing non stop every time its nice out, its not too hard to agree when I dont have plans to hunt and fish.

All Colorado this year.

Archery: 7 days
Pronghorn Rifle: 1 day
1st season: 3 days
2nd season: 7 days
3rd season: 3 days

Total of 21 days

Low number for me typically. Getting harder to get out of the house with a 1 and 3 year old. Of course them being born on September 8th doesn't help either.

At least this year my wife's cousin decided to have a September wedding. Yay . . . She gets to be in the wedding party too. Double yay . . .

Can everyone hunting on 09/18/21 say a little prayer for me. As I will be at a wedding during the elk rut.

30-40 between turkey and deer. Made up of a couple of week trips to camp in the mountains and the rest single day hunts locally.

This is what I am planning for 2021:

Spring Bear-7-10 days
Spring Turkey-5 days Iowa unless I do two states and add Nebraska and it will be 10. Might do another 5 days in Missouri.
Elk- 5 days first rifle Colorado
Deer: 10 days PA, 10 days Arkansas, 5 days Iowa(if I draw), 5 days Kansas(if I draw). Max 30 days.
Pheasant: 10 days Iowa and 6 days South Dakota. Local preserve in between

Considering selling my fishing boat and buying a small RV so I can drive up to South Dakota with my dogs, park in RV park and stay there a month at a time during Pheasant season.

All of the above doesn't include scouting trips.

New to this. I‘m doing about 4-6 trips a year. In addition I Shoot PRS Matches and am out for 5-6 of those a year. I have been blessed with a wonderful tolerant wife.

I try to get out as much as I can between turkey, coyote, bear, deer in the NE. Something around 150+ days a year. No legitimate backcountry hunting yet, but I am really keen on that this coming year. So much to learn.

I live in Troy, Not super far from Milford.

Right on! Well if you ever have any questions on heading west to hunt back country feel free to let me know. I’m not an expert haha. But have done it a few times so I can probably help with any logistics/gear questions and what not.

80-90 I think. Not married and no kids. I dated a girl all throughout this hunting season though. I think it was a shock to her, but we'll see how it goes lol. She's still with me so.... good sign hahaha. I just don't think I would be really happy hunting too much less than that.

2020:

~2 nights weekly coyote hunting 8:00pm midnight
3 day weekend spring turkey out of town
4 day aoudad hunt out of town
4 day mule deer hunt out of town
8 day trips white tail hunting, back at night
~2 mornings/week for geese/duck from late Oct-January

We don’t have children, so she’s pretty flexible. All she wants is for me to come home sober and in one piece.

Thanks, I really appreciate that. We are putting in for a few draws this year and will see how it goes, but don't expect too much with w/o any points. We'll see, stranger things have happened. Thanks again.

Shoot... I'm just over here trippin' on y'all talkin' about your wifes hunt ## days a year too!

Man... I can't even fathom how awesome that'd be to have a Mrs that's into it too! To find one decent looking enough, that I'd be willing to consider lockin' it down with... that also Hunts!...out here? Fuggediboutit.

Around here? It sorta runs the gamut but many are like, for example the Newport Beach T.I.Ts... which is short for Trophy Wifes in-Training. ;) There's worse problems to have I suppose.

I’ve hunted 9 of the 11 days in 2021 so far. I’d say I’m off to a good start for this year. Tagged out on my mule deer in NM so now I have to wait for turkey season. Won’t be long now.

In 2020 I spent 63 days hunting, 71 days fishing. My gf spent 6 days hunting with me, and 13 days fishing with me. Trying to get that number up more but for some reason she likes to work. I give that the finger

I probably spend 5 times more scouting than actually hunting. Elk season in Idaho was 9 days scouting and 4 over nights and shot bull 20 min into opening day. Deer was 30-40 scouting trips and 20 days hunting. Varies year to year and tags drawn

There were a few years in college where I logged over 65 days bowhunting for whitetail. Now I'm more about the longer western trips. 2020 was 6 days Jan deer, 9 days elk, 5 days mule deer, and probably 13-15 days whitetail hunting. So around 35 days not counting turkey or duck hunting; around 45 if included.

Days away from home,

Archery Season 25, - back pack tent and pop up tent.
Muzzle Loader 8 - Wall Tent
Rifle Deer 9 - Motel
Scouting for elk 2 - Pop up tent

So 42 total days in a tent between the first of Sept. and the end of Nov. Actually a couple in Nov. were spent in a motel.

My wife and kids were with me for several of those days. We also filled a rifle deer tag, cow elk tag, and rifle elk tag hunting from home. So maybe close to 10 days of hunting from the house give or take, plus a lot of day trips to check trail cams. Spend a lot of time shed hunting and scouting in the spring as well but don't really keep track.
