How many different Tikka mag sizes are there? Just regular Lite mags, not CTR mags. And I'm not talking about capacity, just configurations for different cartridges.

Bolt faces (3): .223, standard, and magnum

Bolt stops (2): short action and long action

Magazines (6): .223 (S), medium (M), medium plus (M+), short magnum (SM), 6.5 PRC (6.5 PRC), and long (L)

So how many mag options are there and how do you tell the difference between them?

Thanks!

223 mags
Medium mags for 308, ect
Medium + mags for the creedmoor maybe others.
Long action

The difference is all the spacer at the back of the mag.

Then there are mags such as the mountain tactical and a few others that have different lengths, such as 3” for the short action mountain tactical.

Awesome. Thanks. That explains why my .308 mag has an "M" on it and 6.5CM mag has an "M+" on it. What are the long action mags marked with? LA?

I've been thinking about contacting Mountain tactical or HCA to see if they could make me a true flush fit mag that is flat on the bottom to match the trigger guard. I hate the aesthetics of a mag that is visible

There is also the the SM for 270-300 short mags and the new 6.5 PRC that came out with the new rifles.

The 6.5 PRC comes with a dedicated magazine also.

Just checked two of my long action mags, no markings anywhere…on the sides, but there are clearly markings on the feed ramp if you’re smart enough to look.

I've got 3 longs that I use for my 6.5 PRC that I put together from a 300wm donor action and all are marked (L) on the front of the follower.
2 flush mounts and 1 extended.
I've been using mine in my PRC for a couple of years now with no probs.
Flush mount holds 3 and the extended holds 4.

I have the LA mountain tactical bolt stop and ths L mag for my 308. Can reach the lands with the few bullets that I have tried and still have enough room so they don't hang up. Not sure what caliber your planning for. But I have no problem with a LA cycle, some don't like it and think, that the 1/4 - 1/2" or so less throw makes it better. JMO.
