How many miles/day?

How many miles do y'all ride and pack your horses per day in the mountains? Longest we have done so far is 14 miles. Horses were definitely not 'fresh' anymore but right back to normal the next morning. Could we have went another 10?

I know horse health and fitness plays a big part. Healthy middle aged horses that get ridden quite a bit during the summer.

Totally dependant on the condition of your horses. I regularly do 16-20 mile days with my string, 100 mile weeks are not uncommon.

When I was riding with an outfitter friend of mine we averaged 25 miles a day 5 days a week. One of my last big weeks we did 220 miles in 7 days. 30 mile days were not uncommon and quite normal. I have one horse that was good to go everyday. I tried rotating through as much as I could, but one mare put in 60 miles over a 48 hour time frame. She was saddle for 40 of those 48 hours.
