I'm from Idaho and hunt and fly fish in areas with 0 service and grizzlies. I also work in the medical field and know how fast things can go south. I always have my inreach when I'm in the mountains. I don't get carried away using it all day every day but I check in at the end of the night and tell my wife I love her and also use it to communicate with my brother who I hunt with when we split up.

A couple hundred bucks to have the piece of mind to know that help will arrive a little sooner if absolutely necessary is well worth it to me. And I’m happy to share my contact info with partners family, but I also want to have my own with me just in case I need it. I’ve only had to have a partner get a helicopter ride out early once, and it was on a heli-ski trip so the bird was already close by. I never want to have to use the emergency SOS button, but with how inexpensive it is these days, I will keep one close by any time I out in the field and without cell service.
