As few as possible. I’ll usually shoot the first legal bull I get a chance at. It’s taken from two to ten days during archery season the last eight years.
Year round when I’m not working 3 jobs. Usually with a spotting scope and phonescope. I constantly practice working around herds without getting busted. I’m not into pushing elk.
Preferably I’ll spend 8-20 days with a bow. Regrettably due to popularity, I’ll fall to draw a bow tag and will be stuck rifle hunting 4-6 days counting pack out. I’m in no hurry since if I wasn’t trying to harvest an elk I would be out there anyway.
I’ve moved at least twice a year since ‘12 for seasonal work and that has been a major issue in years I was skunked.
Success 4/7 isn’t horrible but not great. I’d prefer if it was 7/7.
This is the first year I’ll have 2 bull tags in my pocket and it’s shaping up to look like 25 or so. 9-10 in OR & 14-15 in WY
25 to 30 days this year is the time off i have planned from September- November for elk hunting away from home. Also will take some day hunts leaving from our home
