Kifaru: 22" UL Hunter, 24" Duplex Lite. Mountain Rambler, Woodsman, and Crater bags plus a pile of accessories. This next year I'm wanting to add an SG Evo 40/56 for an ultra light setup.

Worry less about the weight of the bag and more about the weight of what you'll put in it.

This was the first year I never wore my day pack. All my hunts this year I wore an Outdoorsman's Optics pack. I love that pack. Packed out 3 deer this year with it! It's comfortable to wear as a day pack, and my last load was well over 100 pounds with more than my share of a buddy's buck. The straps all make sense and can be used in a variety of ways. My ONLY complaint is when laying prone, the frame jabs me in the head. It's a lot easier to shed it before laying down.

3 that I use a fair amount.

I have an Exo with the 2000 and 3500 bags that handles the bulk of my big game hunting. I use it as a daypack occasionally with the small bag but I like the pocket layout enough on the 3500 I usually just stick with it. If I'm packing a spotter, tripod, and 15's I'll always go with the bigger bag. I have not yet needed a bigger bag when using the Exo than the 3500, they rate them pretty conservatively.

I also have a Kifaru tactical frame with extra compression straps and a Nomad 2 bag. I have a guide lid I can add if I want. I bought it for my moose hunt to handle really heavy and bulky loads and it worked great for the moose quarters and head. I use a 35L dry bag between the wings for clothing, emergency kit, anything I want to stay dry.

Last I use an Eberlestock Team Elk predator hunting. I like the scabbard to carry my AR or bolt rifle, I don't like having a sling on a calling rifle. I have a giant FoxPro Prairie Blaster call that takes up most of the main pocket, I have just enough room for a Mojo Critter decoy and a puffy jacket. The side optics pockets hold my sticks and the decoy's extended stake. It is pretty quiet and works well for me doing that. I cut out the drawstring closure and the fabric that it attaches to in the main pocket to allow me to get the call out quieter and faster. I also removed the hip belt, I'm not packing so much weight so far that I need it. It gives me less stuff to mess with letting me set up quieter and faster which I think if very important.

I have a couple Badlands Daypacks that I use for treestand hunting, couple basically no name Daypacks, Cabela's Alaskan Freighter, two Kifaru frames, Hunter and Duplex and wife has a Hunter frame and we have an Apollo, Nomad, Cargo Panel and Woodsman. Most of the Non-Kifaru stuff is just waiting to be given to one of my nephew's when they are ready.

I have no doubt it's possible to do most things with just one big bag, and one small one. Having said that, I have two Kifaru frames and a slightly embarrassing number of bags, as well as one internal frame bag ... my gear room is a little like being able to walk into their showroom, and pulling down exactly what I want.

This might be excessive, but it has some benefits - I get exactly the right mix of waterproofness, internal vs external carry, fixed vs movable pockets, single entry and internal bag vs multiple, and so on.

While this has been a pretty expensive way to go in some ways, I've been judicious about picking up the bags on special, or secondhand. And, as it was the first platform I went with (except for old hiking packs from the mid-90s, still going strong), I didn't have to 'bridge up', and lose money when selling on each rung of the quality layer ... all the money I might have lost that way basically went into having as much flexibility as I could want, and then some.

"Buy Once, Cry Once" - How many folks actually practice that?

1990's Osprey Xenith and an old 90's Dana Bomb Pack. Both still work great, I can't justify being a gear junkie.

Plus, I like old stuff, reference my thread on old school boots. Old habits die hard.

^^^Awesome!!

I have one frame, one bag for all. Just have extra pouches. For me, I don't like many guns, binos, packs, clothes for every potential color change in the season, etc.. I picked a 3500-ish cu. in. pack that's a bit big for daypacking and i can add any number of outer pouches if I go overnight for a few nights. The tent, sleeping bag, pad, extree warm clothes all go on the outside and I have plenty of space for chow and all the other stuff inside.

Just my style and I went with a MR Selway, many many other options out there just as good or better.

If I had more money to blow? I'd have one nice frame from any of the good pack companies and two bags, a day pack and long overnight.

Had an MR NICE frame and Gen1 Metcalf thT I put 80plus nights on it for work and play. Sold that and went the SG route strictly due to weight savings at the time. Now have the Krux Frame with Sky7400 and Serac1700. Both of these are center zip, and I’ve come to prefer a panel/horseshoe zip like the MR Scapegoat/SG 3300, etc.

Two Kifaru frames, a bikini for training and a Hunting frame for, well, hunting. On these have ridden an Argali and DT2 bag. Just picked up an AMR during the recent sale, couldn't pass it up at that price.

So this thread motivated me to pull out the old Xenith the other night and give it the first bath of its life. Skanky!! Some of the inner waterproofing came off but otherwise its in great shape. I don't use it that often these days, as I prefer the smaller Dana for most of my needs - the larger xenith is only ever pulled out for longer trips, the last of which was about 5 years ago - 10 days in the boundary waters laying in the bottom of a canoe. Looking forward to putting it into service for a trip out west for elk next fall.

Kifaru Hunting Frame and an older Timberline 2 bag that I love. Considering replacing it next season though...

Also run a Kifaru 14'r for travel, quick overnights, and day stuff that won't result in carry heavy loads. And a Kifaru Tailgunner for fishing, mushroom hunting, and quick day hikes.

Kifaru 24" Hunter frame, with a Reckoning and a Mountain Warrior. I also run an Osprey Talon 44 for scouting trips/day hunts where I don't need to pack meat on the back. I'll be selling the MW though and might try a 22 Mag or Woodsman.

24" Hunter frame with DT1 bag and Guide lid - thought was big enough for extended hunts but compress for day hunts. It does compress nicely but I have a 22 Mag I was trying for western day hunts, not sure on it yet. Need a daypack for eastern hunts to replace my Camelbak Striker and picked up a Scapegoat 25. Haven't received it yet so jury's out on it. The Hunter frame is just too much for treestand hunting IMO.
I also own an ALICE pack and a Kelty Cache frame.

I currently own a hunter frame, a lite frame, and 5 bags for them. I also own a Kuiu Icon pro kit with an 1850 bag attached. There are others but, these are the ones I use.
