How early can I hunt the Bitterroots this Spring? I plan on accessing them from the east off of 93 in MT. Most of the peaks are between 7,000-7,500 ft. where I was thinking. I'm thinking late May early June.

That should be doable. Especially with the crap winter we’re having right now. That late in the season and that elevation shouldn’t be a problem.

Depends on spring snowfall but I expect it will be fine. Many of lower slopes are already open due to the mild winter. If you have not hunted this area of SW MT in the spring, be prepared to deal with ticks. They can be thick in some areas of the Bitterroot. Manageable if you are prepared.

The limiting factor will be the section of the roads on the north sides. By June you should be good. Early May could have surprises depending on elevation. Sometimes the creek crossings in that period can be terrifying.
