Building some new arrows for this year. Need a little help please. Shooting Mathews lift 70# 28” draw. Would like to keep speed between 270-280. How heavy can I build my arrows for this? Hunting elk and moose this fall. Arrows are victory vap ss 300’s. Fletched shafts is weighing 315grns. Just deciding on my insert and collar weight for up front.

475 grains would do the trick. Try the new Podium Archery Ti insert outsert and top with a 100 grain head.

To hit 270-280 fps at 70#/28", my speed estimator is saying total arrow weight should be 485-525 gr for a Lift 29.5 (348 fps IBO) or 470-510 gr for a Lift 33 (343 fps IBO).

Can anyone tell me what my speed would be with 525 grain arrow? I’ve got a few left over from Africa.

For reference: My lift 33 with 29” mods, 69.5# is pushing a 467 grain arrow 277fps and 480 grain arrow 273fps

I’m betting somewhere in the 260-265 range. I shot a couple arrows at 460 gr that were 290 fps. 480gr I’m at 280 fps. So for me; that was -10 fps for +20 gr.
