How have you tricked out YOUR Subaru?

I am in my 14th month with my Subaru OBW, and am curious what mods I have missed out on? I currently have an awning on each side, a shovel rack, roof rack, farm jack rack, rock sliders, engine skid, transmission skid, and rear diff skid.


The roof rack has paid off for family trips in hauling my Yeti GoBoxes and water on top.


The awnings are nice to provide shade for the dog and picnic activities for our son.



The skid plates came in extra handy last week when I centered up a deer carcass on the interstate. The access cutouts cheese grated some flesh off which attracted the meat wasps, but it all came out at the car wash fine.


So, what mods have you done to your Subaru?

On my forester I put a little tube bar on front to hold a pair of long range led spot lights and wired them to trigger with the high beams.

I wired in a 12 volt port straight from the battery.

I installed a 2” hitch for a rack. But it’s a pain you can’t use the rear hatch if rack is loaded.

I also made a carpet plywood platform for the entire back to be level and took out the passenger seat and have a 6ft bed

They also make a strap rig to lift from the wheel.
And they can also be used as a come along.

2014 Forester, nothing that couldn't be undone easily. Front and rear facing offroad lights, full size spare with a plywood trunk floor built a little higher to accommodate that and my tools and recovery gear. Wildpeak trails all the way around. Did great in the sand of the OBX and a few slick days in WY. I moved up to a Tundra in February of this year so it has returned back to factory condition and my wife drives it now. A great car all around, despite drinking a qt every 1200 miles since I bought it.

These can be pretty helpful in some really awkward situations too, especially deep mud or snow - they attach to rims or other places.

I've had that jack for 25 years and don't think I've used it for anything vehicle related yet.

Near the same here. Only time they have come in handy is moving a rig sideways. It can be kinda sketchy, but it works

Yes, they are the widest point. Allegedly you can anchor/ride on an obstacle underneath or on the side of the slider without body contact. I've rode some basketball sized trail boulders unintentionally without any boo-boos.

Laugh if you like but they are a very capable rig. I still have a ram 1500 on 35's but this little beast goes through almost as much amd I'm way more comfortable doing it. I take a hitch basket quite often for extra gear. Im 6'3" and have slept in it no problem. It's still bone stock and I'll probably leave it that way at least until its off waranty. I was going to upgrade tire but these geolanders are actually pretty impressive.

Subaru!! It’s basically stock except for a hitch rack. It has been a great little car.

Been modding mine pretty heavily.

In all seriousness, my wife is on our 2nd Subaru and they have been great vehicles. I have wished I had it instead of my truck on some bumpy gravel roads. Way smoother ride.
