How frequently do you wash your gaiters?

Do you not clean and retreat your boots?
I've never treated my favorite hunting boots, and they're 13 years old. My KUIU Yukons are probably the same age or a little older.

However, I do wash the mud off my boots and gaiters after the season is over.......if there's any mud on them. And that's just so I don't get dried mud in my storage bins (for my gaiters) or in the house for my boots.

That's crazy. I try and really take care of my boots because they'll absolutely fall apart on me if I do not: cracked leather on the toe box, rands separating etc. Dirt and grit gets in there and really works over the seams and any cracks in the leather. So, I use cleaning gel, brushes, conditioner and waterproofing regularly. Even then, with resoles, I might get 5-6 years out of a pair of boots and that's with a pair f lighter weight and heavier weigh boots getting rotated depending on conditions.

As for the Yukons, I'm only my 3rd pair in the same amount of time as you and that's with some repair work done to 2/3 just to keep them going: patching punctures, resewing seams, regluing the laminate, replacing the boot straps etc.

Its incomprehensible to me that you're getting that kind of lifespan without any care. I'm surprised that your boots haven't dry rotted.

Ditto. My wife would shoot me if I put them in the closet with dried stuff on them. My old Kryptec Gaiters are at least 7 years old and I wear them all winter at home and hunting. I actually bought two Pair on sale years ago and haven't used the second pair.
