Curious your preferred method.. I can't imagine it makes much difference, does it?

Assuming your lines have a loop tied in one end and you are using something like a taut-line hitch - do you run your loop around the webbing on the tent, and then your loose end around your stake, or do you put the loop on the stake and run your loose end through the tent webbing?

Post #15 is how I run mine, Sndmn11 shows it as well in his review.

I find that it’s faster than the above way, especially if it’s raining or snowing and you gotta make an adjustment in the middle of the night.

I much prefer to have all my guy lines tied to the tent so they are less likely to get misplaced. Maybe they don’t make it back in the stuff sack and are neatly coiled up sitting on a rock where I last pitched the tent. I’m scatter brained that way. My personal rule is tent stakes, poles, the tent, and any guy lines go in he same stuff sack no matter what. Inadvertently packing a tent with no poles, or the poles from a different tent, is something you only do once, then do whatever possible to prevent it from happening again.

I prefer to keep my cord attached to my shelter to make setup fast, so I often use a Siberian Hitch around the anchor point.
