How do you choose a new insole?

Im a flatlander but had the opportunity this past weekend to do a bit of hiking in some steep hills. We only did about 10 miles per day. My feet aren't bad by any means but just the bottoms are a bit sore. Not blistered or anything like that. Will new insoles do anything to help with that? If so how do I go about making a good choice? Boots are Crispi Nevada's.

Insoles may help. The tissue on the bottom of you foot is probably a bit beat up. Not uncommon and something that training will help. I am a superfeet green user. All my boots have them but I have used them so long I honestly don’t know if there is something better out there.

I need a good arch support and a bit stiffer insole so I use Super feet green in my work boots and Elk trackers, I have Lathrop and sons synergy in my mountain boots..

Yeah, IME, softer insole helps with hard boots.

Heres what I do; I order a few from the Insole store and stand on them on hard flat floor to see how they match the contour of my foot. I like a little bit of pressure on my arch and enough cushion without feeling spongy.

Then you have to factor volume, some thick insoles won't work in a low volume boot.
