I think something is slightly off with concentricity, it’s a Seekins deep fluted barrel, think those are notoriously harder to cut. I mentioned that to the smith but he blew it off. You take something slightly off, add an adapter (he threaded to 1/2) and then add heat, it becomes a bigger problem. That’s my guess at this point anyways.
I’ve already got too much time, money, and aggravation in it. The smith is 5 hrs away one way, range trip is 1.5 hrs, smith already charged WAY too much for the initial work. He said he’d take a look at it but if he determines it’s not his work that’s the issue, he will charge me again for the work. He said several things that made me think no matter what, he wouldn’t find his work to be the problem. I’m not saying he would purposely be deceitful, just know he won’t shoot the rifle and to at his level, it won’t be his work.
