How do these barrel crowns look to you?

I may have missed it somewhere in the thread but have you tried shooting them both without suppressors to see if it's resolves the problem?
I thought about it and probably should have but didn’t. These guns will never be shot without suppressors so if they don’t shoot well with them, they are useless to me. Would have helped narrow down the specific problem but I just needed to make sure it was barrel related, I which I think it has to be now.

How's the thread terminate at the muzzle end of the tenon? Gritters claims that it is possible to "pinch" the bore with a parting tool making a tight spot.

Another thing that can cause wild results is screws that are too long in the scope base and front action screw. The front screw can jam the barrel and cause weird results. The action screw touches the bolt and can have dramatic results. A quick wipe with a sharpie can confirm.

Thanks, all that is good. Again, this rifle shot great and absolutely nothing was changed other than the chop and thread.

I’m going to close the thread out. I had an unproductive talk with the gunsmith and it’s just not worth my time or effort. I’m going to rebarrel and let it be a lesson learned. Thank everyone for the suggestions.

Oooof, that blows.

I’d definitely do some checks to confirm if suppressor bore is concentric with barrel bore.

Sounds like a bummer. Do you have a bore scope to confirm nothing inside the bore got mucked up in the process?

I think something is slightly off with concentricity, it’s a Seekins deep fluted barrel, think those are notoriously harder to cut. I mentioned that to the smith but he blew it off. You take something slightly off, add an adapter (he threaded to 1/2) and then add heat, it becomes a bigger problem. That’s my guess at this point anyways.

I’ve already got too much time, money, and aggravation in it. The smith is 5 hrs away one way, range trip is 1.5 hrs, smith already charged WAY too much for the initial work. He said he’d take a look at it but if he determines it’s not his work that’s the issue, he will charge me again for the work. He said several things that made me think no matter what, he wouldn’t find his work to be the problem. I’m not saying he would purposely be deceitful, just know he won’t shoot the rifle and to at his level, it won’t be his work.

Some things just aren’t worth the irritation, I’ll rebarrel and try to forget 😂

I'd try the muzzle lapping set first. No reason not to. At this point, you're talking about a $1000+ solution to what very well could be a $40 problem.

Dang that's a real bummer.

Before dropping more money on different barrels and throwing those out, you might consider just sitting them aside for a bit and let your frustration settle.

Then, maybe shoot it without the suppressors. If it works, you've nailed it down as being the thread job OR the adapter. You could then consider trying a different brand adapter, or sending the barrels to a reputable smith for a chop and rethread. I think most guys who send theirs out send them to the dude in Idaho... Can't remember his name. But he charges about 150-175. He's known for adding a collar to the skinny factory Tikka lite barrel threads.
