Any advice on finding a cheap elk hunts? I’m in B.C. Canada and don’t have any connections. I’d just like to get something with my bow but I don’t know where to start looking.
I’ve found the hunting here pretty tough and I’m a shitty hunter!

Edit: I should have specified that I'm not picky, I'm assuming the cheap ones are cow hunts.

Fantastic question. I look forward to the answers.

Because I also suck, I focus on these guys as they are locally abundant, taste good, and you don't have to worry about what broadhead to use as a judo point rolls em just fine.

Problem is, I can only seem to find the cows, never a bull.

I would imagine there in B.C. Should be plenty of big game opportunities. That would probably be your cheapest option since you’re a resident. Look into putting in for some draws for species you’d like to hunt. You should have better odds of getting a tag as a resident. I believe some provinces even have resident only draws, this gives you a much better chance. Look into getting a gps software like OnX so you can start scouting for areas you may be interested in hunting. Look for public lands if you have no land connections up there. Public lands should be abundant up there. I would highly recommend you watching some videos on e-scouting and doing some research. This will allow you to find areas you may want to hunt right off the app, saves much time, gas, and headache.

BC! Holy smokes hunting heaven. Go up past Ft Nelson and take your pick. For elk just pick a state and apply for a license. Start with cows and go from there.

Are you asking for cheap guided hunts?

Someone had posted in another thread about sub-$1k elk hunts in the USA existed if you knew where to look. I'm trying to find those. I think those are cow hunts with a land owner tag but I don't have any connections to find those.

I'm thinking about going up there next season. The past two Septembers we've gone to the East Kootenays, last September we had a close call but didn't get an elk, the year before my buddy shot an elk.

The problem with BC is any bull archery season is only Sep. 1-9 and then rifle season opens and in most places it's 6 points or better even if you are still using a bow in rifle season.

I’ve seen a few of the bulls that come out of B.C. You should focus on getting better at hunting. Some big Rosie’s up there.

Most of the Rosie hunts are draw only with tough odds. Our Limited entry is a straight lottery. You don't earn points every year and if you draw a moose or elk tag, you odds are reduced for the next 3 years for everything except deer.

You can hunt in the USA for the cost of a tag and your gas to get there. In many states this is way less than $1k. I think Washington is like $600 isn't it?

GUIDED hunts cost what they cost, anywhere. You pay for the service, and get what you get.
